Pinealon
Pinealon is a synthetic tripeptide, Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR), from the family of short “peptide bioregulators” developed by Russian gerontology research groups. With only three residues and a molecular weight near 418 g/mol, it is small enough that researchers have asked whether it can pass cell and nuclear membranes and act directly on gene expression, a question that runs through much of its literature.

What researchers study
Published Pinealon work combines cell biology with rodent stress and injury models:
- Oxidative stress and cell viability: cultured cells exposed to oxidative challenges, with measurements of reactive oxygen species, proliferation and cell survival.
- Prenatal models: rat offspring exposed to experimental hyperhomocysteinemia during gestation, assessed for oxidative markers and later behavior.
- Brain cell cultures: serotonin expression in cortical cell cultures, and caspase-3 activity in the brains of aged rats after carotid occlusion.
- Peptide-DNA interaction: fluorescence-labeled short peptides tracked into the nucleus of HeLa cells, and biophysical studies of how EDR binds DNA and how ions affect that binding.
- Gene regulation hypotheses: modeling work proposing mechanisms by which EDR could influence expression of genes linked to neurodegeneration.
Most of this research comes from one network of laboratories, and many findings have not been independently replicated. Findings in cells and rodents do not establish effects in humans.
Regulatory status
Pinealon is not approved by the FDA for any use. It is sold here as a research reagent only.
Quality & Documentation
Every batch of Pinealon is made in small runs for Rogue Compounds and tested by an independent U.S. laboratory for identity (mass spectrometry) and purity (HPLC). Each vial is labeled with its batch number and a QR code that opens the testing lab’s own report for that batch. The same batch Certificate of Analysis is posted on this page and in our COA Library, so you can check one against the other.
